If you are a current SEC filer, expect the following major changes after transitioning to EDGAR Next:
- The way you log into an EDGAR website is different. In legacy EDGAR, you logged in with a CIK and password. In EDGAR Next, you log in with Login.gov, which requires 2-factor authentication (e.g., a code sent via text to your cell phone).
- In legacy EDGAR, anybody having a company’s CIK and password could log into and manage the company’s EDGAR account. In EDGAR Next, a company needs to designate Account Administrator(s), and only they can log into and manage the company’s account using their own individual Login.gov credentials.
- In legacy EDGAR, any third party having a company’s CIK and CCC code could submit a filing on behalf of the company. In EDGAR Next, a third party requires the company’s CIK and CCC code, as well as a formal delegation from the company’s Account Administrator before it can submit a filing for the company.
